New in-take arrangements for September 2011
Children born between 1st September 2006 and 31st August 2007 are eligible to apply for admission to the school in September 2011. All children who are offered a place from September 2011 will be able to join the school family full time in the Autumn Term at the beginning of which there will be a short induction period (see below). Parents may choose for their children to start part time (mornings only) although all children must, by law, be at school full time in the term after their fifth birthday. It has been our practice for all children to be full time at least by the term in which their fifth birthday falls.
Children who are admitted to school full time in September will have half day sessions for the first two weeks to enable them to adjust to the length of the school day. These sessions run from 8.45am to 12 noon.
All children joining our Reception / Early Years Foundation Stage classes will be invited to visit the school before they are admitted, to meet their teachers and support staff. The Headteacher talks to parents at this time to explain the organisation of the school e.g. arrangements for lunch times, absences, school uniform etc. There will be further meetings with the school staff to share methods of teaching reading and the importance of play once the children have settled into school.
