Absence from school

All reasons for absence must be reported to the school office. The school office should be notified of any absence by phone on the first day of the absence. If we do not receive a phone call by 10am, you will be telephoned to ascertain the reason for absence. The school should be kept informed if the absence continues. If a child has sustained an injury e.g. a cut that has been stitched or a sprained or fractured limb, the parent must see the Headteacher to ascertain whether it is appropriate for the child to be in school.

The school should be given at least 24 hours notice of medical appointments.

The Governors expect that holidays will not be taken in term time. In exceptional circumstances authorisation may be given. Absence forms may be obtained from the school office. Only the school may authorise absences. (D.F.E. circular 11/91).
